watched Lord of the Rings today! -swoons- it's simply gorgeous. it was so long... and yet i never wanted it to end... the beauty of the scenery, the story-telling, the characters. those fights! those wars! such attention to detail... every costume, every weapon, every setting... it's so brilliant. i understand why it got full marks in all those reviews... and the sheer scale of the whole story... it sweeps you off into this world that's so brilliant and magical.

by the time i left the cinema i had all this testosterone pumping >_<. felt like getting a sword and riding a horse and kill things.

-masculine grunts-

yesterday was your 6-month death anniversary. if you were still here it'd be your 21st christmas. i still miss you. and i still love you... but sometimes i feel like i can no longer remember your face, or your voice anymore... am i forgetting... so fast?

watched nightmare before christmas yestersday. still the best christmas movie in my humblest opinion. strains of 'kidnap the santy claws..." still ringing in mind. feel purged oddly. maybe it's really the christmas thing... though this year celebrations are more muted at my house. no rousing dinner party with turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes (because you were always the main reason why mom went to all the trouble and now you're gone.) but still... i'm one day late but...

merry christmas people ^_^ and for all who've sent me cards -huggle- thank you all.

Where are you Christmas
Why can't I find you
Why have you gone away
Where is the laughter
You used to bring me
Why can't I hear music play

My world is changing
I'm rearranging
Does that mean Christmas changes too

Where are you Christmas
Do you remember
The one you used to know
I'm not the same one
See what the time's done
Is that why you have let me go

Haha... tis been a long long time since i posted. had two emotional breakdowns... but that's all pass and i'm better. pakker's coldplay cds been lifting my mood ^_^

cosplay was yesterday... and to quote what's been said by many others, it wasn't as fun as last year. i just didn't have the energy to go around and take a dozen photoes like last year... >_< and i just felt tired and drained and stoned the whole day... didn't help and i had tons of make-up on and i HATE make-up. (to quote sanzou from the toilet: "don't like make-up still cosplay as the mad-hatter!) yes. i must be insane. was part of a lovely AS group ^__^ just that peoplephobia kicked in and i was too shy to really talk to them. also sharon and kelvin and later pakkers and matthew were around and i didn't want to just dump them (all of em first-timers at a cosplay.) the AS group truly rocked. toshi's sword was completely kakkoi (and i didn't really recognise her at first >_< don't know why...) it was so so nice. ^_^ lucifiel had 4 gorgeous wings, mika and raphael were tres cute (^^) and alanna with her pretty pretty wings and fluorescent hair. there was a rosiel too, who i didn't recognise until she lay on the ground to take a photo... ^^; had really well-down veins on her face. =^_^= realised who lucius really was (once again i mistook her for charlene. >_< silly me. realised she was the draco with rei last year...) and she looked tres tres good. -sigh- didn't really have a chance to see rei as kurai though... ^__^;

pei lin came as kagerou and her eikai was very very good (the fingers!). the joker there was very impressive. the madougu looked very good ^_^ digi chara were very kawaii and the chii looked very sweet ^__^ the count cain cosplayers looked very good... and they even had the minor characters like vera (eyeballs! eyeballs!) and that butterfly bone girl (name not coming to me...) i mistook merriweather for chii at first though... thought maybe she couldn't get the ears >_< found out later she was merri though, when we took the Kaori Yuki x-over photo... ^__^;; but apparently merri took a photo with chii, each holding one ear ^^

and just as i thought i'd be safe from crossdressers because i overheard tessie talking about an inability to get a mai outfit, and pakkers couldn't get a mai outfit too (BIG phew to that.) there came ruby moon. O_o but you must give him credit. he pulled it off really well. he's got the figure for it. and damn. he does look good. >_<;; then there was this cow guy and his friends. have NO IDEA what series they're from (if anyone knows please leave me a message) but they disturbed me. there are some guys that can cross-dress and some that... well... -twiddles fingers- look less convincing when they're at it. i don't he's meant to cross-dress though... just that the funnny hair and make-up. aiee... O_o

pakkers and matt might actually come cosplaying next year! sharon too! yay! ^__^ next year i'm planning to do something that requires less make up (read: more normal make-up) and something that i can wear for prom too (yes. and pull an 'alanna'.) ^__^;; and maybe something less high-profile... (posing for 5 minutes is not fun. my eyes start watering from trying to keep it open and my lips start twitching and my hands cramp. i swear in half the photoes taken by people i look pained, or i'm blinking. or just cross-eyed. >_<) -sigh- quite tempted to do mikaila (have no idea whether that's the correct translation.) that spider girl on the cover of book 9. heh.

-sigh- but for now cosplay is over... and i really have to start cheong-ing my holiday homework. aiee......

clearing out some of my brother's stuff that we left untouched... sieving through the receipts, tax invoices, photoes, cards and letters that he felt were special to him and worth keeping. and whaadya know? i found a card i wrote to him for one of his birthdays, and it was something like,

Dear yaoping,
belated birthday present (1st gun)
' +
early christmas present (2nd gun)
love, ailin

obviously i wasn't too old then, i can't even remember what 'gun' i bought him... but the fact is... apparently he found it special enough to treasure it and keep it, out of the many many cards i wrote to him. took all the willpower i had not to burst into tears in front of mom.

-sigh- why do you only know about these things when it's too late?

(and no, my blog isn't about death and doom and gloom. i have happy times. prom was oh-kay. and i met 'scrappy' this friendly li'l kitty that apparently loves my shoes. so yeah, there are fuzzy stuff. it's just that before i get to blog about it, something happens.)

because i bizarrely really liked the picture of rukia that i drew, i made a [depressive] blog layout out of it. go me. and look-- so many shades of grey! and the font used on the separator is goodbye cruel world. isn't this just a basketful of sunshine. depressive header title is the title of the instrumental theme that plays in the episode where rukia leaves karakura for soul society. kuchiki rukia is from the manga/anime series Bleach and belongs to Kubo Taito, yo. art belongs to meMeME.

sQUARE pEG
ai is a struggling and penniless university student alternating her time between humid ol singapore, and freezing | sweltering* york, england. she has finally hit the big two-oh, and everyday she weeps and beats her breast, and sighs, and heaves, and cries herself to sleep for the wild and feckless youth she never had. she now spends her time wondering about authors and readers and texts, and how they all annihilate each other. she's had a pleasant life, the one we've all had, filled to the brim with the love of absent things. (she also loves alfian sa'at's poetry, in case you hadn't noticed.) if you think you can make her toes laugh, or if this blog has been your secret guilty pleasure, do feel free to find her at hotmail or yahoo
