"... And all the soul-savers and Nosey Parkers, the people whom you've never seen but who rule your destiny all the same, the Home Secretary, Scotland Yard, the Temperance Leaugue, the Bank of England, Lord Beaverbrook, Hitler and Stalin on a tandem bicycle, the bench of Bishops, Mussolini, the Pope -- they were all after me. I could almost hear them shouting:

'There's a chap who thinks he's going to escape! There's a chap who says he won't be streamlined! He's going back to Lower Binfield! After him! Stop him!' "

-- George Orwell, "Coming up for Air"

1) a lot of disjointed thoughts, so i guess this'll be the best way to sum everything up...

2) two nights ago, i dreamt someone shot me. twice. in the ribs. i remember the shirt i was wearing, i remember pulling it up and seeing the hole with the bullet imbedded and the blood. but it's really not as scary as it sounds. i didn't even feel disturbed about it till about 3 pm on saturday afternoon.

3) Last night i dreamt i told off yang and gena over things i didn't think buggered me that much until now. it wasn't the most pleasant of things, but i remember talking a lot to shining too. hm. funny subconscious i have, no?

4) like jing2 says, i never knew you, but i miss you. i hope you're in a better place.

5) been really busy, just finished orwell presentation notes but still have maths tut and econs stuff to do. argh. damn. damn.

6) block tests are rather dismal. A B E O. gorsh.

7) been drawing again. presenting hamlet, ophelia, horatio and yorrick. a bizarre li'l idea i've been toying with. don't like the way ophelia turned out-- but, oh well.

8) invader zim is a really REALLY good cartoon. it's sick and twisted and dysfunctional and bizarre but really good. must MUST check it out.

9) that's all y'all!

whee~! block tests are over, but school starts tomorrow. bleaurgh. piano exam is next thursday, and i still have yet to get my programme notes together... i'm really panicking now, at the rate i practice, failing is an extremely likely prospect. not to mention the blackouts halfway through songs, and my fugue has become a mass of incoherent noises. -sobs- nothing i can do, 'cept try harder now...

on the brighter side, i went to cosfest last sunday with xiaonan and lin hai... twas alright. er, good for lite entertainment, i s'pose. trying to get lin hai to start cosplaying too... heh... and xiaonan's trying to get the comic club to have a cosplay at maf! whee~! (only i have a funny feeling hc's audience won't be really appreciative...) heh. and yesterday me and kelvin rented the dvd for The Producers. it's quite hilarious really, and the guy who played leo bloom's just so delightfully gay ^__^ he's just got that funny puppy dog demeanour and just watching him interact with max is... heh. and thanks to that show, i had 'springtime for hitler' ringing in my head today. i really encouraged you people out there who actually read my blog (you voyeurs you ^_^) to watch it. it's: 'a delightful gay romp'. heh.

went a scanning today, scanned some the pics i did over the weekend... ^_^ the sketches were done in an A5 sketchbook that esther got fer me, and thanks to me abysmal knack of underestimating everytime, you don't get to see a lotta feet in these sketches...

this is my all time favourite ever. one of my first few attempts at drawing profile... and she turned out really well! the outfit and overall image is based on X-men: Evolution... y'know, the one they show at 11 on central... hehehe... just that rogue looks a lot less punk... which might be good or bad, really. i don't really like the storylines in evolution, mostly cos they kinda screwed up everything, what with nightcrawler being this funny kid with a weird accent (what will happen to his great 'i am kurt wagner, in the munich circus they called me the amazing nightcrawler' line? -sob-) and kitty pride's age difference with the rest of the x men suddenly narrowed (though she looks much prettier in this series... heh.) and i love the ickle kitty in the picture! it's adorable! -heart-

was always meant to be a youngish snape. all angsty and backed up into a corner. but he looked a little androgynous, until i fiddled with him a bit more, and we get something that isn't really snape-ish (if we follow the movie) and still is a little er, androgynous. i think it's the eyes. hn. i'll come back to it someday.

i think i did this on thursday night after block tests ended. i liked it, but the more i look at it, the more i don't. bears no remote resemblence to renee, but i love the 40s-70s fashion. it's so... quaint. long live retro. heh. will dig up more pictures from the era and try to do more pics from it.

ah well, that's all for now. have some things that were drawn but not good enough to see the light of day... must ganbatte... hn...

because i bizarrely really liked the picture of rukia that i drew, i made a [depressive] blog layout out of it. go me. and look-- so many shades of grey! and the font used on the separator is goodbye cruel world. isn't this just a basketful of sunshine. depressive header title is the title of the instrumental theme that plays in the episode where rukia leaves karakura for soul society. kuchiki rukia is from the manga/anime series Bleach and belongs to Kubo Taito, yo. art belongs to meMeME.

ai is a struggling and penniless university student alternating her time between humid ol singapore, and freezing | sweltering* york, england. she has finally hit the big two-oh, and everyday she weeps and beats her breast, and sighs, and heaves, and cries herself to sleep for the wild and feckless youth she never had. she now spends her time wondering about authors and readers and texts, and how they all annihilate each other. she's had a pleasant life, the one we've all had, filled to the brim with the love of absent things. (she also loves alfian sa'at's poetry, in case you hadn't noticed.) if you think you can make her toes laugh, or if this blog has been your secret guilty pleasure, do feel free to find her at hotmail or yahoo
